Snow-Snow-Snow

The snow started last week and then when I looked outside this morning, it was snowing again!!! It has been snowing all day. The snowmobile trails will be opening Thursday morning, so bring your skis, snowmobile, or whatever and come on up! If you don't have snowmobiles, you can rent them from a dealer here. You might want to try snowshoeing, we have the equipment here for rent.

The North America qualifiers event will be here on Lake Thompson in February and then the World Ice Fishing Championship in March! It will be interesting to see ice fishermen from other countries compete with our US team and all must use hand augers to get through the ice.

Holiday Acres has a great New Years Eve celebration too, so get away from it all and join our party.

It is a winter wonderland here so you will be able to enjoy the winter at its best.

Everyone should try and make this because it will be one of the best jazz events ever! You might want to consider coming early to enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner special with all the trimmings. Holiday Acres Chef Wins People’s Choice Award

Holiday Acres Chef Wins People’s Choice Award in
2009 Taste of Elegance Contest

Chef Tom Jordens of Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander recently won the People’s Choice Award in the 2009 Wisconsin Taste of Elegance contest. The Chef’s Pork Athena with Roasted Garlic Sauce was chosen as the favorite pork entrée by attendees at a reception held at the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin Dells. Approximately 1,000 participants had the opportunity to sample all eight pork entrees prepared by the eight chef finalists.

“We were very excited and pleased that Chef Tom brought home the People’s Choice Award as that’s what our business is about”, said Kim Zambon, owner of Holiday Acres Resort. “We’re excited about featuring the Pork Athena on our menu so area customers can have the opportunity to taste for themselves. It will make it’s debut on our speciality Valentine menu.”

Chef Tom commented that he enjoys this contest as it challenges him to use his creativity and knowledge. “The plating for the judges is pretty intense but it’s exhilarating to be around other talented chefs and see what they’re doing. The response from the people is really key for me,” said Chef Tom. To read more..

Enjoying the Snowshoe Trails

Rhonda,

We had a GREAT time last weekend - thank you for all you did for us! We want to come back next year - same time, same place. (But I forgot to book the house when I was there - - - - so worried about Adam getting out of there by 11am, I forgot to do it! I'll call.)

Thought you'd like to see some of these pictures. I have a lot of good ones! The one of Bill pulling the kindershuttle is to show you the neat "contraption" to give babies for a walk in the winter.

Laynie fell asleep in it, as all the kids do at one time or another. Just like our burley cart for the bicycle - what great inventions for little ones! There's also one of Adam helping out Paige who struggled that last bit of our hike - how sweet of him! And the picture of Bill & the grandchildren is what it looked like when that movie started - - you came in the house on the tail end of it - with only Bill watching it and comfortably on the couch! :O)

Of course we have to send the "group" picture, and I love the one of Adam & Courtney walking in the distance - the trees, the walk, the snow beauty - it tells a glorious story!

Gotta fly, Linda
